Flawless –Tilly Bagshawe

The diamond business isn’t just about elegant women and their rich husbands... at least not for Scarlett.  As stunningly beautiful as the jewellery she designs, Scarlett is determined to succeed.

But before long Scarlett realises that beneath the glittering surface is a world of shady dealers and insatiably materialistic women, who will do whatever it takes in pursuit of the perfect stone. Even if it means sacrificing everything they have.  So will Scarlett get sucked into this world of greed and lust or will she emerge with her heart and her business intact?

My Rating 4/5  (Fiction)

When I started to read the first few pages I thought this is not my type of book.  I carried on and I must say that I was surprised that I really got into It .

Gypsy Boy - Mikey Walsh

Mikey was born into a Romany Gypsy family. They live in a closeted community, and little is known about their way of life. After centuries of persecution Gypsies are wary of outsiders and if you choose to leave you can never come back.

This is something Mikey knows only too well.

Growing up, he didn’t go to school, he seldom mixed with non-Gypsies and the caravan became his world. But although Mikey inherited a vibrant and loyal culture,  his family's legacy was bittersweet with a hidden history of grief and abuse.

Eventually Mikey was forced to make an agonising decision -- to stay and keep secrets, or escape and find somewhere to belong.

My Rating 5/5 Heartbreaking (Non-Fiction)

Heartbreaking. It was not at all what I expected, I thought it would be a funny and heart warming story about gypsies. How brave of Mikey to tell his story with so much emotional, physical, and sexual abuse that has gone on his life.
I could not put it down until I had finished it.
